JPan Sushi & Grill

“Five hundred, twenty five thousand, six hundred minutes. How do you measure, measure a year?”  What great lyrics from one of the most successful rock musicals of all time, Rent.  Even though from an iconic song, these words ring true for the average person.  We all have the same amount of minutes in a year and days in a week, but sometimes it all gets so hurried.  You try to handle everything; the job, family, friends, appointments, and our children’s rigorous schedules.  But, at the end of the day, you just crave a great, healthy meal with your tribe where everyone can recount their day and plan ahead for tomorrow.  Also, could somebody else cook tonight, please?  After all, we only get so many minutes in a year, so getting out of the kitchen and looking into the eyes of those you hold so dear while you consume a wonderful meal should be tops on your list.  You crave something unique to let your family know that every moment you spend together is to be celebrated.  Tonight, Jpan Sushi & Grill is doing the work, while you enjoy your minutes with whoever is important in your life.

Who loves sushi?  Quick answer:  Everyone!  Some foods become fads rather quickly, then burn out, and are just thought of as a food of interest for that time period.  Not sushi.  Sushi done right is a particular diner’s version of heaven on earth.  And at Jpan Sushi & Grill, the freshest sourced ingredients and expert sushi chefs create a culinary experience you won’t soon forget.  With two locations serving Siesta Key and University Town Center, Jpan is never too far when your sushi cravings kick in.  And let us not forget that sushi is not the only star of the show.  Their salads, rice, seafood, beef and chicken dishes tantalize any taste bud.

For owner, Daniel Dokko, expanding his thriving set of restaurants has always been a natural progression.  From their beginning days at Lakewood Ranch when customers began trickling in to now, when JPan is considered one of the premiere sushi destinations in Sarasota, a third restaurant was never out of the realm of possibilities.  Daniel is proud to announce the third installment to his restaurant line, which will be unveiled some time the end of 2020.  The new Korean-based establishment, Kore’ will be a standout amongst a great lineup of seasoned restaurants grounding the immensely popular Lakewood Ranch dining district.   Stay tuned for details, the excitement for everything happening at JPan Sushi & Grill et al is palpable.

Does Daniel and the team over at JPan utilize IBE?  Absolutely!  Daniel is quick to rattle off the long list of merchants who have become friends over easy, mutually-profitable barters.  When A/C woes have gotten them down in the past, they have two great IBE companies that are delightful to deal with, especially when things get heated.  Veteran Air and Cool Today have proven to be extremely reliable IBE partners.  When plumbing problems have frustrated the folks at JPan, they rely on the professionals at Pro Plumbing Air & Electric to keep the pipes in top shape.  Several new relationships have been forged through the cohesive group of IBE merchants, and Daniel and the folks at JPan are proud to be members.

Celebrating their 11th year as Sushi phenoms is proving to be exciting and tasty over at JPan Sushi & Grill.  Remember, as the days get busy and time is flying by, you only get so many minutes in a year.  Take yourself out of the kitchen, out of the ordinary, and spice up your minute bank with a delectable meal at JPan Sushi & Grill.  And, don’t forget, their sister restaurant will be opening at the end of 2020!

The food was some of the better sushi I’ve had in town but after coming here a couple times, it’s not consistent. Sometimes the warmer food has gone cold by the time it reaches your table. Which is a shame. But what really shines here is the service. Our server was very considerate and kind. The atmosphere is good decor wise, but they played upbeat pop music and upbeat country which didn’t match the aesthetic of the restaurant so that threw me off a bit. Overall 4/5⭐️

Delicious and fresh! One of my favorite sushi places in the LWR/Bradenton area. We always order the pork belly bao buns as an appetizer. Sweet, savory, with a nice pickled vegetable to complement the flavors. Typical meals come with a clean miso and a refreshing ginger dressing salad. We have gotten the sushi boat for two (great for raw & cooked sushi lovers). Recently ordered the $50 chefs choice omakase and this will be my go-to every time now. The selection of stuff was fantastic. Items you typically don’t get at any sushi restaurant. This time we went, they have a drink menu “for the cause” charity event for a local animal shelter. I love how this restaurant supports other businesses in the area as well.

Went for Saturday night dinner. We got there early so we got a nice table outside but got pretty busy as the night went on. Ordered the sake based on our server’s recommendation. Tasted very good, not too sweet. I got the omakase. I liked the toro (middle) which is fatty salmon. It didn’t come with salmon roe so I had to order separately. Our server did tell us what the items were but she thought it came with uni but it didn’t. I wish that it came with a piece of paper that said what each item was for a better dining experience. Everything tasted good and it came with wagyu which I didn’t expect but was a nice surprise. The omakase comes with salad and miso soup. Too much salad dressing tho. Husband ordered ramen - it was just okay. Egg was overcooked. I’d say they do sushi better than ramen. The gyoza was okay. I’ve had so many before and this one tasted good but wasn’t crispy enough. The tempura cheesecake was delicious. Perfect with ice cream.
